Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl â who inherited the toy collection when he left for college â getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
